Frequently Asked Questions | HANA Flower Works

Question 1

How far in advance should I book?

Accepted Answer

For weddings, we recommend getting in touch as early as possible — ideally 12 to 18 months before your date. We take a limited number of weddings each year to ensure every client receives our full attention, and popular dates (particularly Saturdays in May, June, September and October) book up quickly. That said, if your date is sooner, it's always worth enquiring — we occasionally have availability at shorter notice.

Question 2

Do you work outside Cambridgeshire?

Accepted Answer

Yes. While Cambridge is our home base, we regularly work across East Anglia and beyond — Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire and into London. For venues further afield, we may apply a travel supplement; we'll always be transparent about this in your proposal. If you're unsure whether your venue falls within our range, just ask.

Question 3

How many weddings do you take each year?

Accepted Answer

We take a deliberately limited number of weddings each year — typically no more than 30 to 35. This is a conscious choice. We believe that the quality of attention we give each client is inseparable from the quality of the flowers themselves. We will never overcommit.

Question 4

Can I visit your studio?

Accepted Answer

Studio visits are not available at the moment. Consultations can take place at your venue, at a location convenient for you, or by video call — whichever suits you best.

Question 5

Do you use seasonal flowers?

Accepted Answer

Wherever possible, yes. Seasonal flowers are fresher, more beautiful, and more sustainable than imported out-of-season varieties. We work closely with trusted British growers and source from the best wholesale markets to ensure the finest quality. We'll always advise you on what will be at its peak around your date — and the results are almost always more beautiful for it.

Question 6

Can I request specific flowers?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. If there are flowers that hold particular meaning for you — your grandmother's favourite rose, the sweet peas from your parents' garden — we will do everything we can to source them. We'll always be honest with you about availability and seasonality, and if a specific variety isn't possible, we'll suggest alternatives that capture the same spirit.

Question 7

What happens to the flowers after the event?

Accepted Answer

That's entirely up to you. Many of our clients arrange for flowers to be taken home by guests, donated to a local hospice or care home, or kept as a keepsake. We're happy to advise on the best way to preserve your bouquet if that's important to you. We can also arrange collection and composting if you'd prefer a sustainable end-of-life option.

Question 8

How does payment work?

Accepted Answer

We ask for a 25% deposit to secure your date, with the balance due six weeks before your event. We accept bank transfer. All payments and terms are set out clearly in your contract, which we'll send alongside your proposal.

Question 9

What if I need to change my plans?

Accepted Answer

Life happens. If your date changes, your guest numbers shift, or your vision evolves, we'll do our best to accommodate. We ask for any significant changes to be confirmed in writing at least eight weeks before your event. For changes requested closer to the date, we'll always be honest about what's possible.

Question 10

Do you provide a contract?

Accepted Answer

Yes, always. Every commission is covered by a clear, straightforward contract that sets out the scope of work, payment terms, cancellation policy and everything else you need to know. We believe in complete transparency — there are no hidden costs or surprises.
